Yoga for herpes stigma

A Presence practice

SPFPP Yoga - Letting Go Chapter #14 of 20 Stress. A taste of our Restorative Meditation session from the Letting Go series introducing Yoga for Herpes.

This is the 14th of 20 Restorative Yoga/Meditation classes I put together for people navigating herpes stigma. The series of classes is centered around the book, "Letting Go" by David R. Hawkins. I put this series together because the latest survey data we have from 1,000+Stress people living with herpes says that emotional stress is the leading cause of herpes symptoms (outbreaks). I know personally that stigma triggers emotional responses, so applying the techniques of David R. Hawkins to the emotions of someone navigating herpes stigma seems like a no brainer.

No one showed up for today's class so I just kinda freestyled it according to what I know my body needs which was this opportunity to rest and lean into the alarm of stress, my resistance that came up, and then to assess the energy and create balance! This session is all about restoring balance. Here, we focus on identifying stress in the body and bringing awareness to it. We review the scale of emotional responses to the stressors of having to disclose a herpes diagnosis as it applies to the process of Letting Go of emotions.

We review the negative emotional responses and examples of positive ones, and use some data from studies to highlight key factors in stress. For access to all 20 recordings, navigating each chapter of "Letting Go" for herpes, join the Something Positive for Positive People Membership at any tier above the Supporting Star level by visiting www.spfpp.org/membership.
